Howdy, I'm Emily Dupre

Howdy! My name is Emily Dupre. I am a well rounded in design and technical skills with lots of industry and leadership experience.

I started my career at Oceaneering International working as a mechanical engineer. Through the two summers I spent there, I worked on designing subsea systems that would go offshore to interface with ROVs, remotely operated vehicles. Since I was still in high school at the time, I was being exposed to engineering concepts and design processes before I had even taken a basic engineering class. In hindsight, this helped me connect to the material that I was learning in my classes, since I understood where the concepts could be applied to real world applications. One of the major things I learned during my time there was how to use and design in CAD software, mainly SolidWorks.

After having my second internship at Oceaneering, it was time for me to enter college where I began my Industrial Engineering classes. I took a class called ISEN 489: Applications of CAD for ISEN during my sophomore year which focused on SolidWorks and I received my certification in the program. I excelled in the class and enjoyed it so much that I began to TA for the class the following semester. Being a TA gave me a whole new perspective on classes and my studies. It challenged me to juggle my schedule of school and work and to problem solve daily with my students in class and office hours. This truly was one of the best experiences I have had during my college career, even if it was “work”. I did this for two semesters and then graded for ISEN 330.

I started working for Frito Lay, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, during the summer of 2020, where I completed an internship with their Engineering Automation group. Our team was designing new technology that would be implemented into all of the Frito Lay plants in the United States within the next few years. I contributed new ideas to problems they had been trying to solve for a long time and helped write several VBA codes that will be used in the system. I went back for my second internship in Summer of 2021 working on a different warehouse automation line. I have hired on full time with them and will be starting in January of 2022.

During my freshman year of college, I joined an organization called Aggies for Limbs, which raises money for people who can not afford prosthetic limbs. I dedicated my time to serving and organizing fundraising events as Event Planning Director for one year and have been serving as President starting in 2019. I have grown the organization to almost double the size and increased our semester average income to over $5000. Since I joined, AFL has provided a total of 6 prosthetics to three people in need.

In addition to AFL, I have been involved with Alpha Pi Mu, the honors society in the Industrial Engineering department. I have served as Director of External Affairs and currently the Website Director, where I have launched the first website since our chapter’s founding in 1958.
